If you love sunflowers and pumpkins for fall, you are going to love this beautiful shelf sitter made from affordable supplies. It reminds me of everything I love about fall. Follow the steps below and you can add this gorgeous little sign to your decor and have a little taste of the Autumn Harvest in your home. The supplies you will need are:
- Surface
- Paint / Brushes
- Metal Harvest word from Dollar Tree
- Dollar Tree Napkin
- Small Sunflowers
- Bead Garland
- Various Ribbon
- Mod Podge
- Hot Glue
- Floral Wire
- Spanish Moss
I started with a surface from Hobby Lobby that I got for 90% off, so it was just a few dollars. I sanded the design off of the surface and painted it white.
Metal can be difficult to paint, so to paint the metal word, I put two generous coats of Mod Podge on it before painting it brown. It took two coats of paint to fully cover the metal word.
I carefully cut two of the pumpkin designs out of the napkins and separated it from the back layer. Next you will need to put a coat of Mod Podge down on the surface where you will be placing the cut out napkin. Gently lay the napkin on the Mod Podge. Add a light coat of Mod Podge over the napkin to seal it down. You can purchase Mod Podge from Amazon by following my affiliate link here. https://amzn.to/3Bmm1z7
Hot glue the Harvest word down to the surface. I also added a little Spanish moss to the bottom to give it a little dimension.
To create the floral piece for the top, cut two stems of sunflowers off with wire cutters and cut 2 sections of the bead garland off and overlap them and wrap the wire around them to hold them together.
I chose to add a simple bow. I cut 4 lengths of 3 different ribbons and layered them criss crossed, I added a little raffia, because everything is better with raffia :), and tied together with twine. Tie the bow in the center of the floral and glue the whole thing to the top of the surface.
That’s it!
