Sweet Fall Pumpkin Hang tag with beaded garland and tassel

This sweet hang tag is so easy to make and can add a little charm to your fall decor display.

Supplies Needed

  • Kathy Creates Sweet Fall Hang Tag Kit
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Twine
  • Fabric of your choice
  • Sanding block or emery board
  • Scrapper – or any rigid flat surface
  • Raffia
  • Scissors
  • Glue Gun

Creating the Hang Tag

To start, trace the hang tag on the scrapbook paper, you will need two, one for each side. I chose to use two different pieces of scrapbook paper. Once they are cut out, Mod Podge them onto the hang tag. Use a scrapper to smooth out any bubbles and make sure the paper is adhered well to the hang tag. Sand the excess scrapbook paper off with a sanding block or an emery board if you don’t have a sanding block. You will need to poke a hole in the in the scrapbook paper where the whole in the hang tag is, that will allow you to attach it to the twine.

Making the Tassel

To make the tassel, you will need a couple of pieces of fabric. Cut small slits about 1/2″ wide and an inch long or so. Tear the fabric to make long, narrow strips. This process will produce a lot of strings, just pull those off and dispose of them. You will need 4 strips of fabric about 36 inches long. Once you have your strips, cut them into 10″ lengths. Cut a long piece of twine, approximately 48″ long. Gather up all the strips of fabric, fold in half and put the twine through the center, match up the ends of the twine. Take another small piece of twine and tie around the the fabric strips about 1/2″ down from the top. Take the raffia and fold back in forth to make a bow, lay across the fabric strips and attach using the twine. Next, take the two ends of the long piece of twine and add a small dot of hot glue, wait for it to cool for a moment and then twist the ends together. This will make it easier to add the beads. Add the beads, alternating between the buffalo plaid and black until all the beads are added.

Finishing the Hang Tag

The words and pumpkin have an adhesive back. Simply peel the backing off and place on the hang tag. The last step is to tie the hang tag on. Just tie the hang tag onto the end of the beads. You may need to trim your tassel up. That is it! You just created an adorable piece of decor that can be added to a tiered tray, dough bowl and anywhere you need a little something extra. If you make this, I would love to see it!

Happy Crafting,

Kathy
